From 1697 to 1702, Christian Vater worked for Arp Schnitger and kept a book wherein he wrote measurements and important details of Schnitgers practices. Thus, it is an extremely important resource. In addition to 56 pages of facsimile, the book also transcribes much of the hard-to-read old German handwriting and information in diagrams to modern type (in German only). There is a substantial foreword in English by William Porter and one in German by Paul Peeters of Gteborg. 107 pages
