Stephen Layton conducts Polyphony (London choir founded in 1986), The Wallace Collection (brass ensemble), and organist James Vivian in this first-rate production of Walton's choral works. Opening the CD are works that he composed for the coronation of the current British queen. The booklet contains a superb biography with emphasis on the milieu surrounding the creation of the works on this CD. Texts are also included. The recordings were made in 2002 at Hereford Cathedral and at St. Jude-on-
the-Hill, Hampstead.
