Saint-Saëns)
This disc explores the substantial influence Franz Liszt had on Camille Saint-Saëns. From his Veni Creator (dedicated to “monsieur l’Abbé Liszt”) to an extended work on Dies irae and the motets, Saint-Saëns suggests a musical sensibility not unlike Liszt’s. The organs are the Walcker of Riga Cathedral and the Cavaillé-Coll of Saint-Sulpice, Paris. Vincent Genvrin is the organist; the motets are sung by the Sacrum Choir, under the direction of Andris Veismanis.
