The Way of the Cross is a collage of plain chant, organ works, accompanied choir, and even Bach, arranged in 16 movements corresponding to the Stations of the Cross, perhaps intended as an accompaniment to a Procession of the the Stations. This committed performance is recorded at the immense Cathedral of Riga, Latvia, using the huge 1884 Walcker 4-189 played by Vincent Genvrin, and the Choeur Sacrum directed by Andris Veismanis. Also heard are the organ works Weinen, Klagen . . . and Les Morts.
