From his workshop in northwest Germany, Jürgen Ahrend has earned a reputation for sensitive and informed new organs and restorations. Completion in 1993 of the 1693 Arp Schnitger at St. Jacobi in Hamburg corwns a career which has made him the protector and interpreter of organs by Christian Müller, Joachim Wagner, berendt Huess Jörg Ebert, Peter Jansz de Swart, at least two other Schnitgers, and a host of other built in the 1400s to the 1800s.
