The people who made this magnificent CD survey wonderful music composed for cathedrals over a period of one thousand years and perform it with style and beauty. It is a fitting celebration for the restoration of the interior of St. James Cathedral (R. C.) in Seattle, its grand acoustic now revealed after expulsion of the acoustic tile which lined its vault, dome, and walls for too many decades. Music Director James Savage conducts four excellent choirs of the cathedral, soloists, and a brass, woodwind, and percussion ensemble in this finely recorded program. Joseph Adam plays the 1907 Hutchings-Votey 4-52 in the gallery, the 1926 Casavant in the apse, and a 1981 portative.
