The magnificent result was restored in 1988, but was removed in 2002 in favor of recreating the Ladegast, thus destroying the fabulous Sauer. Even the Porsche automobile firm was convinced to fund this effort for the Eule firm to build a new organ in the style of Ladegast, though only about 30% of the pipes and none of the mechanism of the Ladegast remained.
