Michel Chapuis, Personal Notes Vol. 2:  Organs by Cavaillé-Coll

In this second DVD, Michel Chapuis recreates the atmosphere of the inauguration of the 1859 Cavaillé-Coll at Poligny by Lefébure-Wély through improvisation in 19th-century style. He also improvises on the exquisite 1890 Cavaillé-Coll at St-Ouen in Rouen and discusses both organs and improvisation techniques. The improvisations include: Sur les fonds, Crescendo, Pastorale à la manière de Lefébure-Wély, Fugue d’école, Variations sur un thème; Autres variations sur le même thème; Improvisation sur le choral Vater unser in Himmelreich, Toccata, Improvisation sur une chanson basque Argizari ederra, Grand Jeu Classique, Improvisations sur le choral Valet will ich dir geben and Herr Christ, der einig Gott’s Sohn. About 80 minutes, and it includes a 24-page booklet.
