In 1976, Virgil Fox played two “Bach Gamut” concerts to audiences of 5,500 people at St. Mary’s Cathedral, San Francisco, surveying Bach’s works in musical keys from A to G. This package comes with both a DVD (with 5.1 surround sound) and a separate audio CD bearing the same program in stereo. The video track of the DVD contains kaleidoscopic "light show" images. The technically superb recording is transferred to digital by the original recording engineer, audio guru Dr. Keith Johnson. Fox plays some pieces on his touring electronic; the rest are played on the Cathedral’s 4-manual, 89-rank Ruffati pipe organ.
